Dr. Razdan brings latest HIFU technology for Prostate Cancer to Miami

Dr. Razdan the 1st in South Florida to offer Minimally Invasive, Customizable HIFU treatment for Localized Prostate Disease

Miami, Florida , December 1st, 2023 – Dr. Sanjay Razdan is excited to announce a non invasive treatment option for men with localized prostate disease. Sonablate HIFU uses a focused approach and is designed to be a customized procedure for patients to treat their prostate disease, targeting only the diseased prostate tissue while leaving surrounding healthy tissue unharmed.

“We are committed to providing patients with the highest quality, most effective options to address their urology needs,” said Dr. Sanjay Razdan, Director of the Larkin Urology Residency Program at Larkin University. “Sonablate HIFU allows us to provide a treatment option for patients who want to take action and preserve their quality of life but do not yet qualify for surgery or radiation.”

Sonablate HIFU uses sound energy to generate heat that ablates (destroys) targeted tissue within the body. This is a similar concept to using the sun and a magnifying glass to burn a hole in a leaf. Focused sound waves pass safely through prostate tissue until they reach the focal point, where they produce enough heat to destroy only that tissue. This focal approach typically allows patients to recover quickly and return to their normal routines with minimal downtime.

Recent data from clinical studies show that oncological outcomes over eight years were similar between focal therapy and radical prostatectomy in patients with non-metastatic low- intermediate prostate cancer.1 At eight years follow up, 79% of radical prostatectomy patients treated and 83% of focal therapy patients were free of needing additional intervention.1

About Sonablate HIFU for Prostate Tissue Ablation

Sonablate is a minimally invasive device intended for precise planning and monitoring of ultrasound imaging and high intensity focused ultrasound to ablate prostate tissue. Most common side effects include pain and discomfort and urinary tract infection (UTI). Rare side effects include rectal injury, which may require intervention. Consult your physician to see if the Sonablate procedure is right for you.

Dr. Razdan has performed over 10,000 robotic surgeries and is considered a global pioneer in prostate cancer surgery using novel techniques to eradicate prostate cancer while maintaining an excellent quality of life with virtually no side effects of incontinence or erectile dysfunction.

“The HIFU procedure is actually performed in a robotic fashion which adds to our armamentarium of robotic tools and techniques to offer prostate cancer the very best and proven technologies to offer exceptional outcomes.  Patients who are looking for an alternative to surgery can choose HIFU to treat their prostate cancer with very successful results.” says Dr. Razdan, Chairman and President of the International Robotic Institute for Prostate Cancer.
