Return to normal sexual function after Robotic Prostate Surgery

The return to normal sexual function after Robotic Prostate Surgery can be attributed to the quality and quantity of erection initiating nerves, normally present around the prostate. Erectile dysfunction (ED) can be a symptom just after prostate removal and is a normal part of recovery. It certainly does not predict a permanent decline in the man’s sexual prowess. While patients may take up to 18 months to recover full sexual function, in the hands of an expert urologist like Dr. Razdan the same patients experience an exceptionally faster return of sexual function, sometimes within days of the surgery.

Returning to a normal sexual life after prostate removal is challenging for the patient and Dr Razdan’s sustained efforts, experience and innovations in surgical technique has been outstanding over the past two decades.

He recently published his unique operative technique to assess quality of nerve preservation (Indian J Urol. 2019 Jan-Mar;35(1):61-66) during robotic prostatectomies which enables him to predict the sexual capabilities after surgery. This assessment along with dHAM usage (of which Dr Razdan was the pioneer in the world) enables him to ameliorate the anxiety associated with the patient’s expectation and leads to outstanding results as testified by numerous happy patients and by evidenced based medicine as seen by his numerous publications.

These two techniques go hand in hand in ensuring that the sexual recovery is remarkable in almost all patients who have their nerves preserved.

After all, nothing consoles and comforts like certainty does. Dr. Razdan provides just that.
