Sanjay Razdan, MD, MCh, FRCS (Glasg) is the Professor and Chairman of the International Robotic Institute for Prostate Cancer, a globally recognized state of the art facility, dedicated exclusively to prostate cancer treatment. Dr. Razdan just recently had the unique distinction of being nominated by Newsweek magazine as America’s Best Prostate Cancer Surgeon 2024.

He also received the Surgeon of Excellence in Robotic Surgery Award by Surgical Review Committee in 2023.  Previously he served as the Director of the Urology Center of Excellence and the former Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Jackson South Hospital in Miami. As one of the global leaders in Robotic Prostate surgery for prostate cancer, his series is among the largest by a single surgeon in the World. Dr. Razdan is also one of the pioneers in successfully performing salvage robotic procedures for radiation, brachytherapy (known as seeds) , High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU), and cryoablation failures. The center boasts a cancer support line where all his patients can share their experience with prostate surgery.  He has performed well over 10,000 robotic procedures on patients.

Dr. Razdan graduated at the top of his class in medical school and is the recipient of over 12 gold medallions for academic excellence. He completed his Urology residency at UM/Jackson where again he was ranked as the best graduating resident. He then went on to an Advanced Fellowship in Endourology and Minimally-Invasive Urologic Oncology, including the daVinci^® robotic surgical system at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and the Bodine Comprehensive Cancer Center in Philadelphia. While at Jefferson, he, for the second time in his career, received the Pfizer Award for outstanding contribution to the field of Urology. He has also been bestowed with the prestigious “Outstanding Laparoscopic Surgeon” award by the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons. Dr. Razdan was one of the first Urologists in South Florida to perform the state of the art “daVinci^® Robotic Radical Prostate surgery” . He is also the Director of the “Comprehensive Kidney Stone Center” of Miami, which caters to all aspects of the treatment and prevention of kidney stone disease.

A pioneering researcher, scientist and oncologic surgeon, Dr. Razdan has numerous ground-breaking innovations and publication in the field of Prostate Cancer and other Urological conditions.  He is the author of the first textbook solely devoted to the outcomes of robotic prostate surgery. The newest edition of this best-selling book on prostate cancer was released in October 2024 and is now available for purchase.

His research interests focus on the use of stem cells to enhance surgical outcomes during robotic prostatectomy.  He is also one of the leaders in the world, researching the use of nerve grafts to improve functional outcomes in patients with prostate cancer undergoing robotic prostatectomy. By studying how prostate cancer responds at both cellular and molecular levels,  Dr. Razdan remains at the forefront of pioneering breakthrough technologies and surgical techniques that influence early detection of prostate cancer and enhance patient satisfaction.

Dr. Razdan serves as an editorial reviewer for the leading urological peer-reviewed journals, helping to evaluate and refine emerging research and development before it reaches the global urological community. His expertise is trusted not only in surgery, but also in the academic field where the latest standards of prostate cancer care are established.

Widely published in peer-reviewed urological journals, Dr. Razdan has authored over 100 scientific articles & research papers. He is also the author of two comprehensive textbooks dedicated to advanced robotic prostatectomy techniques—resources used by surgeons seeking to master minimally invasive prostate cancer surgery.

An internationally recognized authority in robotic prostate surgery, Dr. Razdan has presented papers and scientific posters at countless national and international meetings. He is a regular invited speaker at major scientific symposiums across the United States and around the world, where he shares his pioneering research and surgical expertise on robotic prostatectomy and novel approaches to treating prostate cancer.

Dr. Razdan serves as a Faculty member and reviewer for the American Urological Association (AUA) Annual Meeting, contributing to the evaluation of cutting-edge research that shapes national urology guidelines.

In addition, he serves on faculty at the Society of Robotic Surgery Annual Meeting and has served as a faculty member and speaker at the Florida Urological Society Annual Meeting.
